A crowd of approximately 1,000 community members braved a little rain and chilly conditions for the annual Tree Lighting on Friday, December 1st. Santa arrived at City Hall on a West Sacramento Fire Department truck escorted by the River City High Marching band and West Sacramento Police Department bike officers. Santa joined members of the City Council on stage to help flip the switch and light the beautifully decorated tree.
There were musical performances by Washington Unified School District and Lighthouse Charter youth groups. Vendors and food trucks were also on hand.
This was the 20th annual tree lighting, which is produced in partnership with the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to event sponsors and City staff including Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Community Relations, Police and Fire Departments.
